Adding custom commands/contacts

Post by dervari »

I tried adding custom commands and contacts to the proper .cfg files, but as expected they were overwritten. What is the proper procedure for adding these to XI? Running the latest VA version.

Thanks.

You cannot make changes to the local .cfg files, the only way to edit a .cfg and use it's changes in nagios XI is to import it through the static directory. The CCM should be uses when making any configuration changes. Admin > CCM, then when the changes are made, run Apply Configuration.

I was able to add the command through the "Commands" menu on the CCM as a MIsc Command and then use that command to trigger an SNMP trap using a notification contact. Thanks!

That is certainly one way of doing that! Thanks for letting us know!
