define user to see only specific alerts

Post by natalia »

Hello,

is it possible to define user in dashboard to see only specific alerts, for example : user “sysadmin” will see only OS alerts (for example : CPU/Mem/SWAP/Disk) for all hosts and will not see (app alerts like "java is down") ?

Thanks for the help !

You will both need to add a contact for that user, and then specify which types of alerts that contact/user combination will receive, please see the following document:

Hello slansing,

Sorry, I still don't understand how to config this.
As I understand , I will :
1. create contact "sysadmin"
2. add contact "sysadmin" to all relevant services (CPU, MEM,DISK,SWAP) and specific hosts (if I want to define that he will see only some of the hosts) for notification

but now how I define the user "sysadmin" that will see in dashboard only "CPU, MEM,DISK,SWAP" alerts ?

Thanks for your help!

A user will only get alerts for those object they are made a monitoring contact on. So the "sysadmin" user, if only made a contact on those relevant services, will *only* be able to see those services in the XI UI. You can always customize the dashboard to only show the dashlets you want for the user as well.
