Correlation in Nagios
How do I build Correlation in Nagios. Is there any document available.
Re: Correlation in Nagios
Could you be a bit more specific? What type of correlation are you after?

Correlation e.g. say I am monitroing N/W switch & 50 servers associates to it . If Switch goes down, I should get one alert for Switch down.
Not for all servers & services associated with it.

What you are looking to do is implement Parent/Child relationships. Check out this thread for more:

That's a quote of the relevant post in the other thread.nscott wrote:This is a very complex issue and an actual correlation engine would have to implemented by you. On the other hand, NagiosXI already has the ability to repress service alerts of a downed parent host. These are called service and host dependencies.
While the following doc is for Nagios Core the same ideas can be applied by you using the Core Config Manager:

Does anyone use event correlation with Nagios? Any thoughts?

Almost *everyone* does - and you should to.vkaf2 wrote:Does anyone use event correlation with Nagios? Any thoughts?
What are you looking for with regards to further thought on the matter? My thoughts are correlation (properly stated parent/child relationships) are easy to implement and great to have.
Re: Correlation in Nagios
I'm looking for some alternative to Bigpanda.io. Service is really good, but too expensive... Thinking to use open-source correlator: alerta.io...hoping anyone has more ideas...
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Correlation in Nagios
By "correlation" are you just talking about incident management? Or reducing the number of alerts you get? Your second post and your most recent post seem to be at odds with each other.
What specifically are you looking to accomplish?
