Audio notifications

Post by eblyns »

I am new on nagios core on centos , I'm trying to get my web browse audio alerts, but I can't.

Reading at several sites say it is as easy as editing these variables:

host_unreachable_sound = alarm.wav
host_down_sound = alarm.wav
service_critical_sound = alarm.wav
service_warning_sound = alarm.wav
service_unknown_sound = alarm.wav

and put the audio in this direction
/ usr / local / nagios / share / media
[root @ NagiosMonitor media] # ll
Total 364
-rw-r - r -. 1 root root 368685 October 8 19:50 alarm.wav

Anyone have a step by step document how to do when a host or service dropping me an audible alert from the web-browser where I am monitoring?

Do you use firefox? The easiest way to do this currently is to use this addon:

Go to Tools -> Addons -> Extensions (on the left) -> Click the gear icon on top, and select Install Addon From File then navigate to the .xpi file.

Did you configure the addon?
From the addons webpage:
The statusbar indicator of the events from the network monitoring system Nagios. Information is parsed from Nagios web interface. In the extension settings dialog simply fill the start page URL of your Nagios web interface, eg. http://www.yourfirm.com/nagios/ and let the button to locate status script url.

You will need to install/update your Quicktime plugin. This is what allows your browser to play audio files for Nagios alerts.
