When acknowledgements and comments are entered, are they retained indefinitely or purged after a certain amount of time?

if sticky, then indefinitely. If not sticky, then they should leave when the status of the host/service changes.

How does one determine this "sticky" status?

There is a check box right in the acknowledge page that is checked by default

Okay. Now in the case of your Incident Manager product, when it does an Acknowledgement Callback, is it set sticky by default?
