I didn't configure anything about alerts .Can anyone guide the steps from beginning how to configure the alerts .....

Have you configured any contacts yet? Have you added that contact to some objects?

No i didn't i created all the hosts and group using nagiosadmin .
Now i need to know the steps to configure email alert .The thing email alert will go to gmail account ..

If you look at the first section, that should cover installation of the MTA, you don't need to go through the Exchange section if you do not have one... skip down to the section below it where you configure your commands in Nagios.
