nrpe return null

Post by zamykiller »

Hi everybody,

I want to use nrpe to monitor a Windows PC. I installed NSclient++ on the Windows PC.

I don't know where it goes wrong.

Settings on Windows PC:

Code: Select all

Re: nrpe return null

Post by zamykiller »

I am still looking for the problem. In the logs of Windows i found this error
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( nrpe ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: nrpe: PID 2108: Client request was invalid, bailing out....

You may want to enable:

Code: Select all

allow nasty characters = true
For the time being to rule that out. After making the change be sure to restart the nsclient service. Can you also provide the output of running your check manually from the command line? It may have output valuable to troubleshooting this.

Can you post the NRPE commands section of your nsc.ini from your NSClient machine

I get a null error in the plugin_output, with the following code, can someone advise? In addition, I dont have a nrpe.cfg file? Is this required, as I am monitoring a Windows host - and all of those settings are in the nsclient.ini file?

Windows.cfg

Code: Select all

define service{
        use                     generic-service
        host_name               winserver
        service_description     Uptime
        check_command           check_nrpe!alias_up
        }
Commands.cfg

Code: Select all

define command{
        command_name    check_nrpe
