I thought you did it already... Do you have 1 through 10 on the "for i in ..." line (line 160) in the "/etc/init.d/nagios" or you have 1 through 30?

How many files do you have now in the /tmp? At what rate are they accumulating? A few/day, hundred/day, etc.?

Well, I burned the bulk of them the other day. Last three days show the following file count:
May1 1
May2 1284
May3 317

Is the total number of files 317, or you have one file, timestamted May 1, 1284 files - May 2, and 317 - May 3? Other words, is the number of files going down, compared to yesterday or it is growing (files are left behind)?

count per day.
We're up to 446 for today, so it's growing.

Out of curiosity, how many hosts/services do you have in your environment, and what is the average check interval of them? "If you could average it." Also, how does your check latency look today, and are you able to open one of the older "older than 30 minutes or so" check tmp files, and then check it's host/service to see if it is in a timeout, or when the last check and next check are scheduled for?

Code: Select all
Host Check Latency
Min 0.00 sec
Max 1.65 sec
Avg 0.60 sec
Host Check Execution Time
Min 0.00 sec
Max 10.01 sec
Avg 0.04 sec
Service Check Latency
Min 0.00 sec
Max 0.91 sec
Avg 0.26 sec
Service Check Execution Time
Min 0.00 sec
Max 10.10 sec
Avg 0.21 sec
CPU Load 15: 0.96
Total Hosts: 792
Total Services: 13518
Average check is 5 mins. I don't do any aggressive polling with this instance.

Spot checking a few of the slightly stale check files, they are for hosts that have had ZERO timeout errors in the logs today.

Are all files you are seeing a result from the same plugin?
