I'm thinking I'm best off completely uninstalling nagios & nagiosxi, then re-running ./fullinstall - is there a best way to do that (without a reinstall of the OS)?

There is an uninstall script that comes with the tarball. You might also check /etc/, /usr/local, and /bin for anything nagios rpm and XI related before reinstalling.
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.

Hi,

Sorry for bumping this ol' thread, but I ran into this issue too on a fresh install.
I'm pretty sure all was fine until I added a windows machine to monitor. After apply config I noticed this.
The view Home > Host detail (or service detail) shows up empty. Even localhost is gone.
I cehck everything mentioned in this thread. but No-Go.

Any more suggestions before I un-install...?

Could be one of a great many things. Check your /var/log/mysqld.log for errors, make sure ndo2db is firing up and running OK, tail /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log for errors.

If you're not invested in this install it might be easier to just start from scratch, however adding 1 Windows host really shouldn't have any major breaking affect on a fresh system. Hard to say what really happened.

I chose to start from scratch.
Somewhere in my mind I think it had something to do with permissions..

But it's working now.

Glad to hear that it is working for you now. I'm going to lock this thread up as the issue is resolved. Please let us know if you have more issues.
