Thanks, that's it.what could be done is to implement an event handler that uses the external command "DISABLE_HOST_SVC_CHECKS"
The bad point is that even with checks disabled, the web UI shows the result of the last check, and shows
the same question-mark as for passively checked services (even when there is no passive check defined).
But that probably goes to the user interface: it would be nice if services whose checks are disabled would
not show in green/OK.
The second point is that disabling checks of services whose parents (hosts or services) are down could be
done by Nagios (perhaps as an option ?). It's not critical in my setting, but (if I understand it well) the number
of running processes on the Nagios host increases when a couple of checked hosts is down: service checks
are waiting for timeout.
(and the third point is that for parent services, there is no DISABLE_CHILDREN_CHECKS command)
Do you think that these points are worth feature requests ?
