the name of the service is Aruba Per AP Client and it only seems to disappear for a particular host, the rrd size looks much bigger than the others could this be the reason I have increased the php limi t but still looking at the code I can't find a reason why it won't give the choice

Would you be so kind as to zip up and send us (either PM or email) the rrd and xml file for an example service. I didn't think about memory limits for large data sets like that when it was written, and I'll need a big rrd to test that on.
