You should use a redirect (perm) instead of a rewrite rule. Make sure that you follow our ssl doc exactly. Many people add a second use_https directive to config.inc.php instead of editing the one that already exists. If your issues continue, please send an email to

Redirect permanent causes the process info to show no data at all and I get these messages in error_log
