Hello everyone,
It looks like there is a problem on the links of Tactical overview page: when I click
on any link of the Hosts table, i get a blank results table (no entries).
Service tables works fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Tactical Overview Problem

When clicking on the "Tactical Overview" in NagiosXI it shows several issues in the "Monitoring Features" section. For instance it says "6 Hosts Disabled" under the Notifications field of the Monitoring Features section. When I click the link, I'm expecting it to show these 6 hosts that are disabled but instead it goes to the "Service Status Host:all" section where all of my hosts are listed. This occurs for every link under the "Monitoring Features" section of the Tactical Overview. We are currently running the latest build of NagiosXI (G). What can I do to resolve this? Thanks!

Thank you for pointing this out, we will look into all of these URLs. One thing you could try is to discover if you have a hostgroup called all with '*' as it's member.

Thanks for your continued investigation. I did check this and I did not have that group. I created the hostgroup "all" with "*" as its member but this did not solve the issue for our particular situation.

Creating this hostgroup fixes an issue where the URL incorrectly references this group, instead of not specifying any group. Your issue is similar in that we need to take a look at all of our URLs and clean them up, but won't be corrected so easily.

This won't be addressed until after the 1.2 update.

I have a co-worker asking about the problem with the URL's not working as expected. He has a question which I have put between the two screenshots.
Tactical Overview.png
On the Tactical Overview screen, under Hosts, if I click the words 5 Down, should that be the same as clicking the Red 5 under Down in the Host Status Summary box? I have circled the items I am talking about.

Host and Service Status Summary.png
From what I understand, the Status Summary boxes are like a mini version of the Tactical Overview screen.

We understand this is going to be fixed in a future release however we want to make sure when we educate our users on how to use Nagios XI they understand what the current problems are and the best way to get the correct information out of Nagios XI.

Bug: Host Status Summary and Service Status Summary links

The reproducable behaviour is that if you are on a Service Status page, any links you click on in the Host Status Summary box will not return the correct results.

It appears that:
  • If you are viewing Host Status information, using the Service Summary boxes will return correct results
If you are viewing Service Status information, using the Host Summary boxes will not return correct results
It is my understanding that:
  • If I click on any number in the Service Status Summary box, I should be redirected to the correct Services page
If I click on any number in the Host Status Summary box, I should be redirected to the correct Host page
To reproduce:
  • Go to the Tactical Overview Page
Under Hosts click the number next to the words Up
You are taken to the Host Status page showing you all the Up hosts, at this point everything is working OK, it displays the correct number of results
In the Service Status Summary box click the number in the Ok box
You are taken to the Service Status page showing you all the Ok services, at this point everything is working OK, it displays the correct number of results
In the Host Status Summary box click the number in the Up box
You are NOT redirected to the correct Host Status page, instead it is still showing a Service Status page
I can provide screenshots if you like but I think the steps above should be enough for you to reproduce the problem. Please let me know if this is not the case.

This problem is reproducable on 2009R1.1H and 2009R1.2 Development Release.
