check_by_ssh: Output Unknown Return Code 255

This looks more like a bug with the "Test Check Command" button in CCM.

In the CCM, when I clicked "Test Check Command" to test a check_by_ssh command, it would fail (see the previous posts). Regardless, I just decided to assign the Service to a host just to see what happened. It's working fine when applied to a host.

"Test Check Command" was generating the Return Code 255, while the Service itself seems to be working as expected. So whole setback seemed to be a bug perhaps. The Test failed, but in prod it works AOK.

You are right - that is expected behavior (not a bug) and cannot be worked around. The test check command button just works that way. We don't want to do privilege separation there for security reasons.

That said, I'm sorry for missing that key bit of info in your OP. I could have saved us a lot of time and agony as that is very much *just how it works* - never rely 100% on that button for your command debugging.
