Run the following tail command while you try to enable Active Host Checks Active Service Checks and Notifications and post the output back here.

tail -f /var/log/messages

Also run this and post the output.

tail -50 /var/log/mysqld.log

I reinstalled. this can be closed.

Problems post upgrade (2012R1.5b to 2014R2.7)
