Thanks.

The probem is when you have many ports on a switch / router, the wizard is not helpful to use when you re adding ports because you need to go to every port once again and set up the bandwidths for warning and critical, and also set up what ports you want to monitor and don't want to monitor.

When you have 48 ports plus on a switch, this can become a real headache.

Would it not be better to be able to use the copy functionality in CCM and also code it up so that it makes the correct entries in the file ?

That's the problem, the copy doesn't create the new entries in the /etc/mrtg/conf.d file.
Only the Wizard does that.
The config files for switch / router bandwidth monitoring are kept in 2 separate places and cannot be synced up easily.
If you can't run the wizard, then manually editing the files is the only option.

What I meant was redevelop that area of the product so that it makes life easier for the user.....after all I would assume that this product is used on many IP networks to monitor routers / switches ?

I totally agree with you. I would be better if you didn't have to rerun the switch wizard if you just wanted to add another check.
I posted an internal feature request for adding the ability to clone Bandwidth checks under the CCM (TASK ID 7595). Thanks!
