the error is:

Did you try changing the encryption to TLS?
What about if you disable encryption and try to go over port 389, does it work then?
Might also want to try TLS over port 389 since that's also possible.

ok exremely, extremely really extremely stupid question. In the pdf it says:"

Open the file in a text editor and leave just lines between the first section delimited
by the "BEGIN CERTIFICATE" and "END CERTIFICATE" lines.
sigh can believe im asking this.
does that mean to wipe out the info between those lines?

You would wipe out everything before and after those lines, you basically just want this left in the file:
