cat /etc/my.cnf can't find the my.cnf file.I tried running mysqld trying to but was unsuccessful to do so.

Also when trying to run the query as root I see the below error.

Something is not right with the MYSQL database, can you login as root to the XI server, run the following and post the output?

There is not any errors in the mysql log which is strange. Can you run this and post the output?

Thanks for the output. It looks like the MYSQL main configuration file is missing and that is why it is not starting up.
Create this file
and add the contents below to that file.

[mysqld]
datadir=/var/lib/mysql
socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
symbolic-links=0
sql_mode=NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION
[mysqld_safe]
log-error=/var/log/mysqld.log
pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid
Save the file and start the mysql daemon by running
Then to see if it is running, run this.
Try that and post if this fixes the issue for you.

Starting mysql failed and I see the below error in the mysqld log, after adding the my.cnf

Try reinstalling the following packages to see if that missing file is restored.
Login as root, and run the following

yum reinstall mysql-libs
yum reinstall mysql-community-common
After they are reinstalled see if the mysql database starts.

Thanks looks like it was mysql package conflict. I was able to a fresh install and I am able to access the UI. But I still donot see the graphs. I have not even added any services other than the local host checks.
I have included the screen shot as an attachment for your reference.
