I needs to upgrade on existing machine.

You means version 5.3 is not using pgsql. It only use mysql.

if we upgrade to 5.3 the pgsql will be as it is. Then how the nagiosxi(pgsql backup) data will populate.

There are migration scripts from postgres to mysql, but they do take some effort to customize for a specific environment. We do want to have a better solution in the future, but right now there is not a timeline for that.

Unfortunately, we aren't the best placed to make a cost decision. We still support 2012, which suggests we will be supporting 2014 for a while. Unfortunately, I can't be more specific on a date than that.

We do offer consulting. Would you be interested in hearing the fees for that?

We are upgrading the system on the same machine not in new machine.

From other post I got the answer that the PostgreSQL data will not affect.

Can you please re-check and confirm. Whether the attached steps are fine or not.

For upgrade of Nagios from 2014R2.7 to 5.3.X on the same machine.

Yes, those instructions should work. If you have an issue with the actual upgrade, it's probably best to open a new thread and refer to this one, rather the digging through this thread when you have an actual issue. Of course, if you still have pre-upgrade questions, you can ask them in this thread.
