When you ran reconfigure_nagios.sh it had a db login error. Your issue won't be resolved until that is. 5.3.1 was released recently as a bug fix and covers this problem. Can you upgrade to it and report your results?

If you don't want to upgrade, you can see this KB article. Use the replace just the individual file instructions.

Just upgraded to 5.3.1 - same error "NAGIOSQL LOGIN FAILED!" - none of the other issues my server has were fixed with the 'upgrade' to 5.3.1 - difficult to tell what it actually did apart from delaying everything until the maintenance window to do the 'upgrade'.

By now you may be detecting a certain, pissed offedness about me?

If what is meant by NAGIOSQL is the nagiosql databases in MariaDB then I can manually log into it without issue. Why is this such a problem?

Please run a manual upgrade of Nagios XI from the command line. Instructions for doing so can be found here: How to Manually Update Nagios XI

After it is completed, there will be an upgrade.log file in the folder the PDF has you run the upgrade script from.

Please upload both the upgrade script and upgrade.log or PM them to myself or another tech.
