For the sake of clarity, you did not modify the file in any way, correct? If you did, could you post the modified version?

No modifications done, and to me the error looks like the nrpe issue not really the all interfaces call error.

Did you restart XINETD/NRPE after adding the definition?

Yes the services have been restarted several times.

From the sound of your configuration, it sounds like this could be a possible bug. Could you post the following things once again, so that we can try to replicate this in house?
1. A copy of your /usr/local/nagios/var/objects.cache
2. A screenshot of the error you're receiving on the service status page.
3. A copy of your /usr/local/nagios/etc/nrpe.cfg AND /etc/xinetd.d/nrpe
