Well, it looks like we're at least writing the status file correctly. Does this improve the situation on the GUI end of things?

If not, can you try to Apply Configuration in the GUI and share the output of the previously used tail:

That's certainly looking much better. Does the web GUI still lock up when an apply configuration is run? If so, can you share fresh copies of the httpd logs found in /var/log/httpd?

The other files are empty,

I also noticed that its just not the apply config but any command we try to send in like acknowledgements and forcing a immediate check.
They all seem to be stuck loading and eventually time out. If the tab where the loading takes is not closed the UI becomes unresponsive as well.

Are you using any sort of proxy on this server? I ask because the internal calls should not be having any trouble connecting, and we generally only see that when a proxy is in use. The acknowledgements and immediate checks all get routed through internal calls, so a proxy would make sense.

Also, is 10.1.3.145 the IP of the XI server for certain?

We are not using a proxy.
The ip of the nagios server is 10.1.1.9
and the 10.1.3.145 is my ip.

There is a memory limit for PHP you can increase to see if that increases the speed of the XI GUI for you.
Edit the following file

/etc/php.ini
Find this option and change it from

memory_limit = 128M
to

memory_limit = 512M
If it already has been increased, try doubling it.
Save the file and restart the Apache process by running

service httpd restart
See if that fixes the issue for you.

In the Apache Error log file you posted

Can you check that log file and see if you are still getting those errors?
I would assume that this is causing the issue.
When you upgraded the server, did you upgrade anything else other than XI.
If so, what else was upgraded?

The zend_mm_head error could be a bug is certain versions of PHP.
Can you run the following command and post the output so we can get the php version?

You can try and add the following to the bottom of the /etc/php.ini file and see if that stops the "zend_mm_heap corrupted" messages

opcache.fast_shutdown=0
After the change, restart apache by running

service httpd restart
