Thanks tgriep,

this was one of the things i missed.

Finaly i handled nearly all of my problems, and that once which are not handled are not nagios related.

Problems so far:

- A poorly designed mib - Sophos sent me a new one which seems to work (my fault because of no expierience with nagios, mibs, snmp - i had just a little baisc knowledge... until now :)

- A Sophos Server wich had Windows SNMP Service installed and started - SNMP Authentication failure was not a problem of correctly configured Sophos, but a problem of the windows service... sophos installation on server didnt even send me one trap... it was the mentioned windows service (no idea who activated this). windows service was configured for sending authentication trap... :(
It was a long way to realize that there is a second trapsender...

- A bug or installation problem of sophos endpoint with enterprise console, where no snmp messages are send, even when snmp traps are configured... -> sophos supportcase.

I want to say thank you for the inpute over last days, it helped me a lot to get in touch with snmptrap and nagiosxi.

Tanks guys and have an nice weekend!

Tony

Your welcome, glad to help out anyway I can.
If you don't have anymore questions, shall I lock and mark the post as solved?

Hi tgriep,

sorry for the very late response... yes, the post can be marked as solved an locked :)

One thing just for the other guys with snmp problems: Dont forget to restart snmptt service after importing mibs - this one was mentioned in nearly every guide, but i didnt do it in some troubleshooting actions... very bad ;-)

Thanks to support!
