The IP address of the nagios server is in the allowed hots entry, I restarted the service anyway.

The commands were run:

[ronb@nagios ~]$ nmap 64.5.130.146 -p 5666

Starting Nmap 6.47 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2018-05-18 13:15 EDT
Nmap scan report for www.whro.xyz (64.5.130.146)
Host is up (0.00070s latency).
PORT STATE SERVICE
5666/tcp filtered nrpe

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.23 seconds
[ronb@nagios ~]$ /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H 64.5.130.146
CHECK_NRPE: Socket timeout after 10 seconds.

I will have to wait until our web guy is back in the office and ask him to open the ports I need. I will update once these are successful.

Can you let me know what ports I need them to open, 5666 and there was a 12648 (something like that) for a windows server, not sure if that is needed on a linux box.

Thank you

For NSClient++ (Windows) you need to open 12489 (for check_nt) and 5666 (for check_nrpe). For the Linux box you only need to open 5666.
