What version of RHEL is confirmed to work with this? Can you identify what I need to update on RHEL 6.9 for this to work (RHEL 6.9 is an officially supported platform for XI is it not? If so, should support not be able to provide a solution which does not involve building a new version of a server?) Can you also suggest an alternative means of testing a login via a different Nagios plugin?

6.9 is officially supported but the problem isn't Nagios - it is a third party plugin(http://www.webinject.org/) which relies on the libraries of a system to make the request. I suspect it has something to do with the version of perl but upgrading to a package outside of the RHEL repos could break other things an isn't supported. Moving to a newer supported OS and taking advantage of the newer packages would be best. I've tested with a 7.5 of RHEL as well and can confirm SNI is included in the requests.
