Where are those logs that you posted coming from exactly? Do you see these activities in /usr/local/nagios/var/archives/nagios-12-05-2018-00.log(should have the 4th's activities) on both machines? Please provide a copy so we can review.
Are both Nagios severs configured to use the same offloaded database at w.x.y.z ?
Can you confirm the service is stopped on one of them? Run "service nagios status" to find the status.

The log we received does not show the same duplication seen in the log snippets you've posted. Where exactly did you get these snippets? The eventlog in the nagios database will contain similar information about service alerts and notifications. The duplication is likely something due to the replication that has been configured.
