Realized that I shouldn't have edited xi_host_notification_handler, I should have added the --mygroup="$_SERVICEMYTHINGY to xi_service_notification_handler instead. Removed the --mygroup="_SERVICEMYTHINGY from xi_host_notification handler and added it to xi_host_notification handler. I'm still not resolving Group: %mygroup% in the e-mail template as shown above. Also, made sure I added the _mythingy free variable to all C Drive services.

After much trial and error (mostly error) the modified e-mail alert is working. Please feel free to close out the case, and thank you for pointing me in the right direction to get this done.
