Hi

So coming back to this:
The configuration files in /usr/local/nagios/etc/ can have errors preventing the upgrade or the upgrade can complete successfully and cause problems afterwards. Sometimes the error message will explicitly tell you which files or directories to examine but if not or the upgrade completed, the configuration can be checked and detailed output returned with:

Can you cleanup:

RHEL 7.5 with full STIG lockdown and corresponding SELinux configuration (which is the reason why I can't run this from /tmp).

Can you look at /var/log/audit/audit.log and check if there are
any errors related to the update command please?

Reverted to pre-upgrade snapshot, ran upgrade script, then immediately opened /var/log/audit/audit.log.

No "error" or "warning" anywhere in the file.
