Does the command work from the command line okay (without an X server running and as the nagios user)?

The command works from the nagios user, if the xserver is not running the plugin will exit 1 with a gtk warning. Though every time the plugin runs it should start a virtual X server.

How large is the file /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log on your system? In the strace it seems to exit after using that file.
