I would lean towards having the DB server at each location, mainly because you want the data transfer speed to be fairly snappy. The XI interface will need to constantly interact with the mysql database, and the UI will be MUCH more responsive if the DB servers are at the same location. Keep in mind the DB servers don't need to be powerhouse machines the way the Nagios servers would need to be, you just want a fast connection between the two.

Unless you have some real chunky connections and very low latency back to your main site I would strongly advise that you have a database server at each site. We are talking 12 - 20 Mbps of persistent traffic between each Nagios XI server and its corresponding Database server.

The results would be that your network team would probably try to assassinate you with a mouse cable.... or at least that's how my network team would try to resolve the problem :lol:.
