We are running mostly the same mix of services/plugins on all sites.
We mostly use NSClient++ 0.3.9 active checks for CPU, Disk space, Memory and services status. in addition we use some HTTP checks and VMWare VC checks.

Do you have comparable networks at both locations? Do either location make checks that span across a wide network?

Also, are both server running the same version of XI?

Finally, can you tail the mysql.log on the NJ system for a bit to see if we may have some db issues.

Code: Select all

tail -f /var/log/mysql.log

This problem keep happening now on V2012R1.2 on diffident servers from tome to time:
The system is "hanged":
The Monitoring Engine Event Queue show thousands of checks pending to be executed now
The service check latency is also in the thousands sec
Please look on the attached nagios.log file before and after the restart. Note the type of messages below
Warning: The check of service 'DNS Resolution - http://www.sdgm.com' on host 'www.sdgm.com' looks like it was orphaned (results never came back). I'm scheduling an immediate check of the service...
At this point restarting nagios is solving the problem (until it happen again)
