There is a contact template called xi_generic_contact that contains these two settings. There was a past issue were the nagiosadmin user had settings like you describe... did we do that again?

It's important for you to help us understand how things digressed into this state. We are glad that you found the settings to get NagiosXI to handle notifications, but this as you may know is just a patch in lieu of a proper fix.

Please open another topic to discuses the other issue. We will surely look into this. However you must help us to reproduce your issues, please provide more information... If you look in past tickets there are several examples of users who had something that was unique to there instillation and despite the firm believe that the issue was easily reproducible it wasn't.

Think of it this way:
We would hope that our test environment would be easy for you to reproduce, but I get the impression that you are having an issue there. We have the same issue with trying to reproduce your environment. In order to help you correct this we(At Nagios Enterprises, Inc.) are going to have to bang our collective heads against a few walls.

OK, I'm sorry there is no problem with the contacts. You have not to manually configure the event handlers for the contacts in CCM. My mistake.

But the issue with notifications is still here and there is the steps to reproduce it:

1.Create new user in nagiosxi, create as a monitoring contact.
2.Create a host/service using any wizard. I used 'generic network host' wizard. I created it with unreachable IP to receive notifications. In wizard check the contact created in 1. for notifications.
3.After you complete the wizard look in the Event log - there will be warnings 'no default contacts defined for host/service'. So when it is time to send notification - no notifications are sent. There is no messages 'host/service notification' in the Event log. And this is the issue - why it said that no contacts defined? I defined it.
4.Now go to Host detail - configure - re-configure this host - notification tab and check contact created in 1. again and press update. After that you will receive notifications normally.

I think i described the process. If you have any questions ask me.

This appears to be a bug that we're currently working on tracking down. We'll get it posted on the bug tracker.

This is not quite the same bug.

However we did identify that nagiosadmin needs to have it's template changed, this is an old bug resurfaced.

I'll look further into your original issue.
