That does look correct, I would restart that worker first, then nagios. No need to restart gearmand.
As for the event handlers, I generally recommend them off too as it is too often in XI that you do not have all the required files/db connections to perform all of the event handlers on the workers.
If you do, that's great and you can turn them on... of course as far as I know there is no way to determine which gearman worker will perform the event handler...
