thats correct.
it runs on snmptt-1.3-3.nagios.noarch and it breaks (again) with snmptt-1.4-0.6.beta2.el6 from Centos and Redhats repos

This is strange that yum would install beta software...
Anyways, the package snmptt-1.3-3.nagios.noarch was specifically designed to run with nagios, it has special information in the package that sends known traps to the Nagios command pipe. If you overwrite this package, you would have unexpected results...
