So, I have to spend $1,300 to see if this will meet my needs on Linux?...and if it doesn't?
I agree. At the company i work, they are considering to switch from Hobbit to Nagios xi. And they have need for Linux monitoring. And my job is to review nagios xi with the trial version. I need to know of the Linux config looks like.

The only thing ive discovered is that if you download plugins from http://exchange.nagios.org that can get disk, cpu, etc from Linux. How to put it on grapsh i can not find.

I assure you we do offer support for Linux and future trial versions may include the Linux Wizard. The issue only effects the Wizard and it's not as if you can't monitor Linux servers with the current trial version.

We are committed to supporting many flavors on Unix including Sun, AIX, HPUX, ect. We will support Linux and Windows also. We welcome the opportunity to monitor all of your intriguing and customized deployments.

Is the Nagios XI VMware virtual machine download the "free trial addition"? How does this differ to manual installation of Nagios XI?

Does this mean that if you buy the product a seperate download is provided that includes the working Linux Wizard?

That's correct there is development going on out side of the down-loadable demo.

To check if you are using a licensed copy go to the home page just above "Nagios XI [new line] administrative tasks" there could be a line like the following:
"Notice: This trial copy of Nagios XI will expire in 45 days. Purchase a License Now or Enter your license key."

If you have a license key you can activate the product and receive support and upgrade benefits!

Same goes for the manual installation of Nagios XI, activate the product and receive support and upgrade benefits!
