I moved the xidpe folder to xidpe.old and created a new xidpe file, restarted nscd, and graphs seem to starting to show data.

You can try, but most likely this will result in errors due to how rrd files are formatted. If you have data, then nothing, then data again, its generally not possible to backfill that data. It wouldn't hurt to try this with a few local host sets of performance data and see if it is displayed properly. At least that would not effect any data for a production system.
