You may have already done so, but if you run into issues with the update, I would advise immediately emailing [email protected]. We are just back from a 4-plus-day weekend, so while the 24-hour SLA still applies, response times will be slower than our average.

I made a snapshot of the server, if any issues arise, i can always revert back.

That said, I ran into a few issues.

I updated from 4.2 to the current version.
Using the following: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ading.html
After chown two files: check_dhcp and check_icmp and modifying the group of local/nagios/libexec/ in order to "make install".
There were no errors after checking configuration files but upon restart of nagios, 10 or so hosts showed as down, also the monitoring engine under component was not running.
Some research showed that i needed to recompile NDOUtils, i tried to download from https://sourceforge.net/projects/nagios ... utils-2.x/ but got a funky error.
I will attempt again tomorrow or later tonight. The amount of emails from Nagios was a bit much so I'll need to try again after disabling notifications.

QQ - Is there an easy/fast way to shutdown all the alerts on Nagios while I do this?

There are a number of ways to do this, but https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=544 is the standard way to do so.

As was already mentioned, I think setting up a remote session via [email protected] is the way to go. It is fine to continue to use the forums, but without being able to dig into the system a bit, the thread could drag on a bit. If you do create a support ticket, please reference this thread.
