I have a question. does this account walled have a user account in the XI GUI?

If so, login as that user and click in the username in the top right corner of the GUI.

Go to the Notification Preferences menu and the Notification Methods menu, make sure the settings are enabled to receive email alerts.
Update the settings.

Then go in to the Core Config Manager > Contacts menu and edit that contact and click in the Alert Settings Tab.

Click the Manage Host Notification Commands button and remove all of the commands and add this one to it.

Code: Select all

xi_host_notification_handler
Save it and Click the Manage Service Notification Commands button and remove all of the commands and add this one to it.

Code: Select all

xi_service_notification_handler
Save it and Apply the config.

Then see if that account will receive an email for the notifications that you have enabled.

Thanks, sorry for only trying this now. I removed all alerts to stop getting the SPAM but then missed a critical alert and had to enable it again.

So now I am getting those up notifications that aren't problems again.

I logged in as the specific user and tried as you suggested. By removing host_notifty_bysms and host_notifiy_byemail and only adding the xi_handler - I will still continue to get SMS because of my mobile alerts confinguration correct?

As long as that user account has Mobile Test (SMS) enabled for the user account and the email address for the phone is correct, it would send an email to the phone using your email server.
