This might an issue. I see there are commas in the numbers. Are you using a localization? Can you show me the echo of the following:

What do you mean by "using a localization" ?

Linux uses localization for determining how to display things like numbers. The US way of displaying decimal numbers can differ from the way some other country may display decimals. Can you try something for troubleshooting here:

Set your LANG variable to en_US.UTF-8

export LANG=en_US.UTF-8

Then run the check_rrdtraf plugin again as the nagios user. Does this resolve the tiny amount of bandwidth reported problem? It will take a while, but if it starts reporting the correct bandwidth with that check the RRD will then start getting populated with the correct data and the issues you're experiencing will dissappear.

The bad news is that there is still something to find out. Forcing the variable LANG to en_US.UTF-8 solve the problem when manually running the rrdtraf plugin but the web interface still prompt the bad values.

I tryied to restart the performance grapher and apache but nothing change. Maybe we need to pass the LANG variable to Apache or Perl somehow or set also LC_NUMERIC or LC_ALL. Is setting those variables not risky for the system ?

Nothing, it behaves the same.

Manually running the check provides the right data but the web interface still provides the very low values.

The below command consists of your environment variables related to language and location. I'm guessing apache and perl are pulling from these values.

I did some looking around to see if you could set the environment variables for the apache and nagios users, but so far the only way I'm finding to do that is by setting it in .bashrc, which won't work for those users since they are set as "nologin".

Ok so i change the system locale to have evrything in english.

If someone have the same problem on CentOS, just edit /etc/sysconfig/i18n and replace the line

After a reboot... :cry: The locale command provide only en_US.UTF-8 values. NagiosXI gets back into english, (too bad, it was nice with some french) At least the values are now corrects, and the graphs start to looks normal.

I guess we better reserved french for teasing girls than monitoring routers.

Glad it is resolved even if you have to reserve your french for teasing girls...

These numbers have constant calculations done on them and the comma just doesn't play well with the RRD calculations.
