Perhaps the addition of a component or option within XI which gives Fusion the ability to handle central authentication. Most likely a lot of work, but everything from managing users to permissions could be administered in one place with granularity to suit all scenarios.

Our next tech team meeting isn't until next week, but I will be sure to bring up the interest in Fusion.

Add me to the list of customers who would like to see the multi-user feature implemented soon. I recently split our Nagios XI deployment into separate Production and Test instances. I was going to deploy Fusion to tie things together, but the lack of multi-user capabilities make it a non-starter for us.

Meanwhile, in a galaxy far, far, away, one year later...

We have a customer looking to do this as well. Big customer. Unhappy customer. Plus, there's a new issue (https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... 17&t=37513) where they have to use local XI users instead of AD users for Fusion to work properly....

Ideally, we really need the user that's logged in to Fusion (based on username) to be able to see what they are allowed to see in XI and to be able to pass through to XI as that user. Anything less than that seems inadequate.

User/password management, I'm betting, is a minor issue to most people, and I can't see how it would slow anything down, but would be willing to put up with slowness to achieve intuitively correct behavior.

Is there ANYTHING we can tell our customer about this request that has been outstanding for almost 4 years now?

Hi Eric,

We are very much aware that this problem, among others with Fusion, have been a real pain for a lot of people.

The current Fusion version out right now uses some really interesting ways to communicate with the XI/Core servers that it gets data from. In order to show things in fusion the permissions are based on a single user on the Nagios XI machines, something that probably shouldn't have happened. Logging in to the XI box probably seemed like a nice idea but at the time it wasn't written in to allow each Fusion user to log into XI. The problem is pretty complicated since you can obviously have Fusion users that don't have access to XI and whatnot. Either way the time required to change the backend for Fusion is enough that we decided to create a new version.

For now, you can tell the customers that there is a new version of Fusion in the works - "Fusion 4" most likely. We announced that we would be developing it at last year's conference. This issue is just one of many that we are trying to solve with this release - along with making Fusion more useful for those with multiple XI installations.

I must have missed that announcement at the conference. :-) I hope you realize I'm just adding fuel to the fire....

Glad to know it wasn't forgotten.
