Re: Upgraded to Nagios XI 2009R1.1G and email paging stopped

Trying to access the above mentioned URL gives me a "Server not found"
error message: "Firefox can't find the server at http://www.go.nagios.

I am also trying to get SMTP notification out of Nagios XI and have recently updated my installation
to 2009R1.3B. From what I can see, XI is ignoring the "don't use sendmail, but SMTP" setting which
I use here. Although I can successfully send test mails, I do not receive host down and other
notifications by mail - and the log is pretty clear about what it is doing: "/bin/mail -s ...".
The maillog also tells me that notifications try to go out by means of the local sendmail delivery,
although I have opted NOT to use sendmail but instead use direct SMTP delivery.

Can someone please shed some light on this issue and why XI is ignoring my SMTP setup?

Thanks,
Hans

I'm very sorry for the typo... You did correct it and find the URL correct?

http://go.nagios/com/forum/552 VS http://go.nagios.com/forum/552

This sounds so much like the issue related to the admin user we had this spring. If Nagios Core is running "mail" then you have the wrong settings. Nagios Core should be dispatching the notifications to XI and then XI handles the delivery.

I wasn't sure how to correct the URL. When I use http://go.nagios.com/forum/552
I get redirected to http://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=552 and that tells me:

Since I am new to XI and this forum, I don't know what the mentioned issue is about. Can I do something to change it?
Is it a bug, did I do something wrong in the configuration?

Cheers,
Hans

Can you check the CCM, it may be that the contact's template is generic-contact instead of xi_contact_generic.

Yes, it *is* "generic-contact". Shall I change it in the Misc Settings to "xi_contact_generic"?

It worked: Got my first "***** Nagios XI Alert *****" by SMTP. Thanks for your help!
