Per the suggestion of Nagios Support, we simply deleted the bogus entries on the new server for the certificates, then re-added / imported them manually, and we are now able to authenticate via LDAP without issue.
If port 80 (or 443) is required for the migration, you may wish to update your documentation, as it only mentions port 9200. I realize that the port should be open anyway, but still good to know.
