The actions URL is still a no.

the Action component, now will save settings for some hostgroups and not others.
I have a specific hg I 2want to use but selecting it and applying it blanks out and doesn't save.
Hold up, I have just discovered that the actions component will only save properly and work correctly for hg's i haven't selected previously.

If I select a hg, apply settings. It saves properly and works.

If I then switch to another new HG (from any of the three fields) and then try to select the original hg again, that's when it won't save.

Man, you get all the strange ones today. Try to remove the component and re-add it. Report back.

what do you mean "today" lol.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall it.
I followed the instructions that scott gave me in this post and I even used this command:"

Code: Select all

 # rm -rf /usr/local/nagiosxi/html/includes/components/"somecomponent"
.

I even backed up the server we are trying to fix, and restored it to my test box. Then I installed the CCM patch scott brewed up:

Code: Select all

http://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=9390&p=45662&hilit=action+url+ccm#p45687
To try to fix the Actions URL, but nothing.
i am tempted to run the repair my sql, but that option sets my teeth to chattering and hands a shakin...

Try running Scott's postgres cleanup once again:

Code: Select all

echo "delete from xi_options where name ='actions_component_options';"|psql nagiosxi nagiosxi
Report back.

unfortunatly no go.

If I got the actions_url to work i could live with that.

Yeah, but the action_url component is deprecated and has been for a while now. You could try removing the actions component, running Scott's postgres cleanup, and then run the vaccum fix from the faq in that order. But it is a long shot. . . .

I think someone said something once about repeating the same task over and over again and expecting different results . . . . is not insanity, just proper troubleshooting?

No problem. We will see you tomorrow - as soon as I get into the office we will try to get a time setup. I have a meeting around noon (central), but beyond that my time tomorrow is flexible. Send us an email and we will move from there.
