I have reinstalled vcenter with the correct domain/hostname, but it keeps trying to connect at yourvcenterserver.yourdomain.local

Lets figure the dns out. From the XI server, run:

Code: Select all

ping yourvcenterserver.yourdomain.local
nslookup <ip of yourvcenterserver.yourdomain.local>
cat /etc/hosts
On the esx server, run:

Code: Select all

ping yourvcenterserver.yourdomain.local
nslookup <ip of yourvcenterserver.yourdomain.local>
cat /etc/hosts
hostname
Post the results in code wraps.

This is what I get on the Nagios Server:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost ~]# nslookup 10.201.18.195
Server: 10.201.17.201
Address: 10.201.17.201#53

195.18.201.10.in-addr.arpa name = vc540001a-esi5.admin.bcps.k12.md.us.

[root@localhost ~]# cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
::1         localhost localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6

My suspicion is that you have some dns issues. COuld you run the rest of the command requested?
From the nagios server:

Code: Select all

ping yourvcenterserver.yourdomain.local
From the esx server:

Code: Select all

ping yourvcenterserver.yourdomain.local
nslookup <ip of yourvcenterserver.yourdomain.local>
cat /etc/hosts
hostname

We need to move this to the ticketing system and schedule a remote session. Send an email to [email protected]

I sent an email a couple of days ago, but I haven't heard back. Do you know how long it usually takes for someone to get back about a ticket?

You might have sent it in before whoever purchased Nagios XI in your organization added you to the approved contacts list. I just checked and saw your email in there, so if you send it now it should come through.
