When did you make the change, and did you restart logstash after making the change?

hey sorry for the delay.
Yes I did the service logstash restart, but the issue is still happening.

For some additional clarity Ben, is this logstash service running as the nagios user, or in your environment did you change it to run as the root user?

I made no changes to the standard install. after I did the steps to install on my server, that was it. I am running on redhat with iptables off, but that is it.
lets do a session so you can get a look see.
