If you Acknowledge a problem it just means it won't send notification. Everything else remains as normal
charmainequek wrote: 2. if i exclude a particular host from a common service that is applied to a host group
If you remove a service from a hostgroup it will no longer exist, so there would be no more checks.
charmainequek wrote:3. If i schedule downtime for a fixed or flexible period for a particular host or host group
If you schedule a downtime for an object it will still send through the Trap Sender unless you check the box in the settings "Don't Send During Downtime"

hi scottwilkerson,

it means for scenario 1, if i click on "Acknowledge this problem" in the service that is returning "critical" which will not be resolved immediately (eg. needs lead time to replace hard disk)

snmp traps will still be sent out? and at every check interval?

No, it would only send out if the state changes again.

hi scottwilkerson,

so the settings in the "alert settings" tab do not apply to snmp trap sender as well?
snmp trap sender will just send out traps once the state changes to critical without any wait or delay time?
in this case can i conclude that "check settings" and "alert settings" have nothing to do with snmp trap sender?

correct, except that in check settings you are setting how frequently the service is checked (check interval).
