Happy to report that this change, along with a few of my other fixes/features, made it in to Core officially:

In closing, I'd like to address a question from @BanditBBS on the first page:
I'll be closing this thread now since the feature has made it into Core, works well, and seems to have made enough people happy to where I don't need to worry about it anymore.
