Hi,

i recently added a few hosts to Xi. This hosts do not have any services configured (only the check_alive from a template).
I created a host group with this new hosts as members, but when a look at the host group i see no hosts.
If i add a service to each hosts , they will show up.

Any idea why ? and how to fix this?

Do the hosts appear on the "Host Detail" page?

Yes , they appear in the Host detail.
In the host summary group we see the Hosts column green with the count of the members. The services column is empty because we have no services defined for the hosts.
When i click on the hosts number i aspect the list of hosts in one overview , but because there are no services defined for the host we get an empty overview with


Service Status
Hostgroup: some_name

Showing 0-0 of 0 total records
Filters: Host=Up Clear Filter

That link is actually specifically for services under a hostgroup. You might be better of trying the Hostgroup Overview of Hostgroup Grid views, which will show the hosts.

i undertand you workaround, but if you have 100 host groups , opening the "hosts group overview" takes a little bit, and then you need to search manually to the right group.
I've attached a document with the two paths which should give the same result in my opinion.

I think I see what you mean, so when selecting the hosts from a summary page, you would like to go to a hostgroup overview page not something to do with services. When selecting the service numbers, you are correctly expecting it to be blank as there are none, in this case. Am I understanding that correctly? I can speak with mguthrie, otherwise a thing to get this correctly logged would be tracker.nagios.com. Put in your document and the same description.

You are correct. I've post this issue on tracker.nagios.com as you suggested.
Hope this will be corrected/changed soon.

Hi,

we are getting complain from different departments that hosts (with no services) do not showup in their overviews! is there any progress in solving this issue?
I noticed also that this hosts don't show up when using the quick find.
