Nagios XI trial - issues with Views/Services/Hosts not there

Greetings-
I am admittedly a newbie to Nagios XI, so I hope these are easy questions and it's just my search-fu that is bad.
I recently installed XI from the VM download onto an ESX host. That went well. I then changed the passwords for mysql and root, edited the automysqlbackup script to update the password, and then went about setting up the gui.
I went through all the gui setup procedures as noted in the tutorial videos. I then added four cisco 29XX routers using the add switch/router wizard. That's when things went off the rail.
I can see the routers in the CCM as hosts. I can see monitored 'services' (bandwidth, status, etc) in CCM under services. I created a host group in CCM - Network-Devices, as well as a Network-Services services group. I added all the routers to the Network-Devices host group, and all the associated services to the Network-Services group.
I'm getting alerts on bandwidth and interface status in my email, so I know that part works.
However, none of the views shows any of the devices or services I've added, just the localhost. The network bandwidth report page comes up blank, but I know MRTG is generating the rrd files as I can see them from the command line.
I also have several pages telling me I need to activate my trial license, but others that tell me I have 59 days left in my trial, so I'm confused about that too.
Have I missed something in the config, or is there something else I need to do to make this work.
Thanks for any help-
Joe
