Hi,

Has anyone monitored salesforce?, if so what services did you monitor?, and is there a plugin for this?

I did some looking around and was not able to find anything pertinent to sales force monitoring, we can see if others chime in here. What are you looking to monitor within sales force? It is quite possible we may not need a plugin, but rather to help you use something pre-existing to monitor what you need.

I would like to monitor the website that access's salesforce, the infrastructure (server), the server cpu, disk, users logged in, and any other credible services that anyone can recommend that should be monitored for this application.

I appreciate all the help.
Thanks.

What type of server are you running Sales Force off of? This would be a job for protocols such as NRPE, NRDS, etc as this information is not located within Sales Force.. What are you looking to monitor on the website? Are you interested in doing web transaction based monitoring as in checking what users would actually click on in a step by step fashion to make sure the interface is usable? Or are you more interested in basic web monitoring?

Monitor the website (connectivity)
Server Components ( cpu, mem, disk, etc), this is all i can think of now, but wanted any other input if any has setup monitoring for salesforce or any other applications similar to salesforce and if so, what components were they monitoring.

We need to know this information before we progress further as what and how we can monitor these items depends on the above.

Its actually a SOX application, so it looks like we are only allowed to monitor the site..

If you don't have access to install an agent on the remote machine, then you'd probably have to write a custom check of some sorts to talk to the Salesforce API's if they have them. Custom plugins for Nagios are fairly simple if you have someone at your organized who is handy at scripting.
